I've been busy! Since graduation I've had 3 1/2 careers; the first being building a machine tool distributorship with my father from scratch to a multimillion dollar operation specializing in applications engineering. I ran it for about 15 years after he retired, It was closed in 2000 and I went into teaching college classes in Business, Marketing, Computer related topics and Ethics and, then went on to become a small business counselor (and ultimately a regional director in Virginia) for the Small Business Development Center (affiliated with the SBA) for about 15 years.
My half of a career is my doing the bass thing all along. Never went pro but had the opportunity to a couple of tines - just didn't much care for the lifestyle on the road. Very fortunate to share to stage with some famous folks in the blues genre as part of a warmup act, but have also played other types of music as well - even worked on a gospel album many years ago!
In my personal life I've been married twice; my first wife of 23 years passed away unexpectedly in 2006. We had no children; she miscarried 3 times and the last one almost killed her so we gave up trying. It devastated me and it took me time to recover, but I remarried in 2013 to a wonderful lady and we've been enjoying our lives together ever since. Got a wonderful step daughter in the deal. She works as a flight attendant for Jet Blue and her boyfriend of 7 years is an air traffic controller at McCarren in Las Vegas.
Other than doing the music thing, we travel some (my stepdaughter is based in Las Vegas) to Vegas and other spots. We plan at least one major trip annually, but the pandemic really screwed that up. Also kinda involved in the local political scene some. We have a very cool 5 year old yellow lab named Rory who gets a trip to the park to play with her friends just about every day. And this area has so many places to explore and things to do - Festivals, waterfalls, concerts, the mountains and quirky little places to experience.
We're living up in the hills at 3,750 foot elevation on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains near Maggie Valley and Waynesvile. Not too far away are the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cherokee reservation and of course -Asheville.
That's about it in a nutshell. Feel free to get in touch if the mood strikes you.
